SPP 1159:  New Strategies for Measurement and Test Techniques for Production of Microsystems and Nanostructures

Subject Area Computer Science, Systems and Electrical Engineering
Term from 2004 to 2014
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 5472016

Aim of the Priority Programme of emphasis is developing and making available new scientific strategies and methods based on profound knowledge for definition of parameters to describe the function oriented demands on components and surfaces, for the purposeful selection of technically and economically appropriate measuring procedures and measurement processes, the consideration of affecting influences or the representation of results of measurement for application in industrial manufacturing. Included are calibration procedures and standards appropriate to shop floor use. Thus available measuring principles in production of microsystems and nano-structured work pieces can be used to achieve function oriented, meaningful and traceable results in standardised measurement and test procedures. In the sub-projects of the programme basic principles and rules for definition of measured values, measuring procedures and design of elements of the testing chain are under research and the results are verified in practical tests.
Projects within the following topics are under research:
-- new approaches for a closed system of geometrical features in micro- and nanometrology under consideration of the transition of dimensional and form deviation, waviness and roughness
-- new production environment-adapted analysis, interpretation and evaluation procedures for geometrical and nongeometrical characteristics and parameters
-- new tolerancing principles permitting function oriented tolerances
-- fusion of measuring information from different measuring procedures for evaluation of the functional suitability of the workpiece under test or the structure which can be examined
-- rules for the design of scaleable standards and production-related calibration methods as well as experimental testing
-- modularised modelling of measurement procedures and setting up measurement budgets for determination of measurement uncertainty
-- modelling measurement and testing processes for simulation of measurement procedures to acquire parameters for use and set up (e.g. to consider material properties or deriving the measuring instruments adjustment parameters)
