The proposed Research Unit will advance the field of theoretical and mathematical physics by performing an in-depth analysis of the foundations of scattering amplitudes. By creating new synergies between leading researchers in the field of mathematical physics and scattering amplitudes in Germany, as well as enhancing existing ones, it will uncover new fundamental principles underlying some of the most important quantities in modern physics and develop novel powerful tools for their computation. The results obtained by the research group will have a transformative impact on the German research landscape in mathematical and theoretical high-energy physics, and it will corroborate Germany as one of the leading locations for the study of scattering amplitudes in Europe, if not worldwide.
