Project Details
Repetitive tDCS in a mouse model of internal capsule stroke: effects on white matter, motor control, plasticity, and recovery of function (C01)
Subject Area
Molecular Biology and Physiology of Neurons and Glial Cells
Term
since 2021
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 431549029
Project C01 explores mechanisms of motor execution deficits in an internal capsule stroke model in mice targeting the major descending motor fiber tracts leading to specific long-lasting motor deficits, such as spasticity. Extensive imaging, especially in vivo DTI, electrophysiological, histological, and behavioral analyses are used to study white matter degeneration and plasticity related to the severity of specific motor deficits. In a second group, repetitive tDCS is applied with the aim to attenuate these motor deficits through white matter plasticity.
