Project Details
Neuronal mechanisms underlying motor flexibility in fruit fly walking (A05)
Subject Area
Cognitive, Systems and Behavioural Neurobiology
Term
since 2021
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 431549029
Project A05 investigates the neuronal mechanisms underlying locomotor flexibility using fruit fly as a model. Leveraging our discoveries on the proprioceptive signals for stepping control and the detailed map of ascending pathways and monoamine neurons, in the second funding period, project we use connectomics to map the synaptic connection points between sensory-, ascending-, descending- and leg control-neurons, identify specific monoamine neurons that modulate these points, and analyze their roles with optogenetics and 3D kinematic analysis. Thus, project A05 advances our understanding of monoamine neurons regulating motor flexibility.
