P14 will characterize how activation of the tubular repair response together with genetic drivers of ccRCC induces the expression of macrophage migration inhibitor factor (MIF) and recruitment of myeloid cells. By genetic deletion of Mif in the context of their established Vhl/Trp53/Rb1 mutant autochthonous mouse model of ccRCC, P14 aims to systematically characterize how MIF expression affects tumor cell - immune cell crosstalk at different stages of tumor evolution. P14 will employ pharmacological MIF signaling inhibitors with the goal of generating a more favorable anti-tumor immune microenvironment.
