This project explores prominence through probabilistic modelling, bringing together ideas from linguistics, psycholinguistics, psychology, mathematics and computation, to build a unified account of the functions of prominence in human language with a focus on prediction. While phase II focused on momentary interpretation given an existing prior distribution over interpretations, in phase III, the project focusses on how that distribution evolves over time, and how that evolution impacts interpretation and audience design.
