We revealed sex-dependent differences in the lipid metabolism and inflammatory status of obese individuals that contribute to the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis. Sex-dependent differences have also been observed in the metabolic syndrome associated with cardiovascular diseases, as well as during the immune aging process. We will now investigate the kinetics of immune aging in individuals with overweight and obesity compared with normal-weight individuals. We will further assess whether immune age acceleration is associated with metabolic and/or vascular complications in individuals with obesity.
