We identified a key role of Kupffer cells (KCs), but not monocytes-derived macrophages (MoMs), in liver regeneration. We could also show how metaflammation interferes with key molecular and cellular mechanisms orchestrating liver regeneration, and identified microbiota-driven chronic IFNAR signalling on KCs as key driver of KC dysfunctions during liver regeneration under obesity conditions. We will now analyze the cellular and molecular networks orchestrating the regeneration process of the liver during metaflammation using proteomics and mouse models.
