This project concentrates on the theoretical understanding of the magnetoelectric coupling at the interface of a ferroelectric oxide with a magnetic material. We focus on (i) the specific modification of the metallization at an oxide-oxide interface by the ferroelectric polarization or the magnetization as well as on first-principles calculations of (ii) ballistic transport in metaloxide- metal tunnel junctions with four conductance states and (iii) the tunnel anisotropic magnetoresistance due to the spinorbit interaction. We aim at predict-ing and demonstrating phenomena that can be switched by external fields.
