Experimental methods for detachable connections of reused concrete elements us-ing process-oriented, additive or subtractive methods (A03)

Subject Area Structural Engineering, Building Informatics and Construction Operation
Term since 2025
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 523205694

Sub-project A03 uses experimental methods to develop connections for reused concrete elements to transfer axial and shear forces and/or bending moments. This shall be achieved by subtractive fine processing, i.e. material removal, or adding concrete or reinforcement. Sawing, water jet cutting and grinding, will be analysed with regard to their unavoidable inaccuracies and their effects on force transmission in concrete-to-concrete contact connections. For tensile forces and bending, a thermal prestressing method for short lengths is developed to compress the contact joint. The developed connections are generalised to the most extent using cross sectional or force related standardisation concepts to enable automation in fine processing.
