Generative design for actively controlled mould systems with high system complexity and functional density (C05)

Subject Area Plastics Engineering
Engineering Design, Machine Elements, Product Development
Term since 2025
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 525069572

Project Description

The graded CRC/TRR lightweight structures require moulds with a large number of sensors and actuators. The resulting high system complexity and the required short development times cannot be mastered with current methods. The aim is to provide generative AI for the automated development of these mould systems. The main areas of work are the identification of suitable architectures for artificial neural networks (ANN), data generation, ANN-compatible formats for 3D data and the implementation of the method in existing development processes. The sub-project will develop the central EFS demonstrator mould and will be a major contributor to the iDP system.
