Project Details
Performance, design and controlling mechanisms of innovative slip joints for modular offshore substructures (B08*)
Subject Area
Structural Engineering, Building Informatics and Construction Operation
Term
since 2025
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 434502799
Modular substructure concepts are becoming increasingly important for offshore megastructures with their enormous dimensions and masses. In subproject B06, the joining process as well as the load-bearing and deformation behaviour of innovative slip joints with steel-steel and steel-concrete contact surfaces for modular substructures are investigated numerically and experimentally. On the basis of the results obtained, a mechanically based model for describing the load-bearing behaviour of the slip joints under compression and tensile loading will be derived and then used to develop concepts for modular offshore substructures, thus expanding the design space of offshore megastructures.
