T cells and cholangiocytes: an interaction that governs portal immune regulation and determines biliary inflammation (A05)

Subject Area Gastroenterology
Immunology
Term since 2025
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 530990199

Project Description

The interaction between T cells and cholangiocytes is central to the pathogenesis of cholangiopa-thies. We will identify the bidirectional network between T cells and cholangiocytes in vivo using well-established mouse models and in vitro using murine and human cholangiocyte organoid models. Moreover, we will decipher the antigen presenting capacity of cholangiocytes and characterise the impact of T cells and cytokines on the activation, regeneration and senescence of cholangiocytes.
