Project Details
Damage control in gas-supported hot sheet metal forming of aluminum (Project A10*)
Subject Area
Primary Shaping and Reshaping Technology, Additive Manufacturing
Term
since 2025
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 278868966
The aim of A10 is to investigate the damage evolution in hot sheet metal forming processes of precipitation-hardenable AA6010 to establish a damage-controlled process design. For this purpose, four process variants will be studied experimentally and numerically: conventional deep drawing, gas-based forming, and deep drawing combined with gas calibration pressure and gas counterpressure. To minimize damage in components with complex geometries, the load path must be controlled by adjusting process parameters such as forming temperature and forming speed, as well as level and timing of gas pressure.
