The aim of this project is to enhance the performance of bent parts through damage-controlled forming. This involves the experimental and numerical investigation of cyclic forming processes (single point incremental forming) with alternating stress states, as well as of hot sheet metal forming (hot stamping). Special attention is given to new damage mechanisms such as void shrinkage and void healing. The transferability of the insights gained for dual-phase steel DP800 to an aluminium alloy will be assessed.
