It is the main purpose of AQUASHIFT, to analyse how climate change will affect the seasonal growth and activity patterns of aquatic organisms and, thereby, change the structure and functioning of aquatic communities and ecosystems. While primary data and site-specific conclusion will be provided by the individual experimental and observational AQUASHIFT-projects, the co-ordination and discussion process within the priority program and a central meta-analysis of observational and experimental time-series data are required to identify general patterns and to distinguish them from site-specific and ecosystem-type- specific For that purpose, funding for a communication and co-ordination system within AQUASHIFT (2 workshops, co-ordinator's trips, homepage) and for a central meta-analysis are requested.
