Project Details
Challenged (by) parasites - Plastid-mediated acclimation kinetics of plant-plant-pathosystems (A08)
Subject Area
Organismic Interactions, Chemical Ecology and Microbiomes of Plant Systems
Term
since 2022
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 270050988
Our previous study with Arabidopsis facing a parasitic plant infection identified genes for plastid-targeted proteins like CP31A and HMOX1 to exhibit altered expression patterns under adverse conditions, whereas CP31A-deficient, parasite-infected Arabidopsis showed enhanced stability. The proposed research uses gene complementation as-says, knockdowns, RIP-Seq, and electron microscopy to unveil cryptic functions of these genes and elucidate con-served pathways of acclimation regulation in plastids deprived of their prime photosynthesis function.
