The Landesarchiv Schleswig-Holstein keeps a holding of personal papers of the scientist, professor an politician Prof. Berndt Heydemann. Prof. Heydemann is counted among the outstanding personality in the research on the protection of nature and environment in Germany. In his scientific activities at the university in Kiel he focuses on ecological systems, nature conservation and biomimetics. In addition he was a member of several national and international organizations which are engaged in the protection of nature and environment. From 1988 until 1993 Prof. Heydemann was minister of environment in Schleswig-Holstein. The project deals with the description of the large and unsorted personal papers. Due to their rich content, the documents could not only be used for biographical studies, but also offer many informations for researches about the development of the ecological movement in Germany as well as for scientific and social historic purposes. The description data will be represented in the archival information system Arcinsysy of the Landesarchiv Schleswig-Holstein and in Archivportal-D.
