Project Details
Driven particles in strongly coupled non-Markovian baths (C05)
Subject Area
Statistical Physics, Nonlinear Dynamics, Complex Systems, Soft and Fluid Matter, Biological Physics
Term
since 2021
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 425217212
After having established experimental and theoretical tools to understand the behavior of driven colloidal particles in nonequilibrium baths, in the second funding period, we are aiming to improve the conditions of external forcing. Using feedback-controlled experiments, we will drive spherical and nonspherical particles with constant velocity or constant force, which allows for the direct measurement of nonequilibrium fluctuations. Theory will not only support these measurements but also provide a deeper understanding of path integral approaches and the extension of fluctuation-dissipation theorems to nonlinear systems.
