Project Details
Assortative matching and the allocation of talent (B09)
Subject Area
Economic Policy, Applied Economics
Term
since 2021
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 280092119
Project B09 examines the allocation of talent to productive positions in society. In earlier work, the team examined how professional networks affect the allocation of high-skilled individuals to the most productive positions, from both a historical and a contemporary perspective. In the third funding period, the analysis will study assortative matching in more detail, i.e., it will consider the processes by which firms and workers with complementary strengths are matched. The analyses will consider labor market institutions, external market forces such as competition, internal factors such as managers, and the role of scientific institutions.
