Complementary Methods for the Homologation of Chiral Boronic Esters

Subject Area Organic Molecular Chemistry - Synthesis and Characterisation
Term since 2020
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 449567446

In iterative sequences the Matteson Homologation has several advantages over modern substrate controlled homologations. It allows for the introduction of differentially masked heteroatoms and only one chiral director can control the configuration of several stereocenters. A key problem, however, is that one chiral director always leads to the same sequence of configurations. In this project we develop new methods that significantly widen the scope of this type of homologation. That way new configuration patterns will become available in chiral molecules with multiple substituents. Furthermore the coupling of two homologation products and the introduction of quaternary stereocenters will be explored.
