Cardiac resident macrophages (CRM) have a critical role in the orchestration of immune cell recruitment, wound healing, and cardiac function after myocardial injury. Our project will characterize conserved human long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) that were previously shown to influence murine macrophage function. Using established and novel human models such as cardiac tissue slices or organoids, we will explore CRM lncRNA mechanisms in cardiac injury and repair in vitro, ex vivo and in vivo.
