Zusammenfassung der Projektergebnisse

The research project did highlight the potential of microgel based scaffolds for the use in wound healing applications. Through their unique geometry they allow for fast cell infiltration, while at the same time supporting the tissue and wound stability through enzymatic crosslinking with the adjacent wound surface. As a platform technology we could show, that the microgels are well suited to release multiple signaling mediators to suppress inflammation or promote healing. Works by Mealy et al. showed how heterogenous, mixed particles can be used to enable timedependent, responsive biofunctionality, e.g. through release of a signaling mediator from proteolytically cleavable microgels. Therefore, we are planning continue the project on the IL-4/IL-10 functionalized MAP scaffolds and extend the work on MAP-based wound healing applications.
