Mesoporöse Silica-Nanopartikel zur kontrollierten Freisetzung von Peptid-Wirkstoffen (C03)

Subject Area Solid State and Surface Chemistry, Material Synthesis
Term since 2017
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 316249678

This project utilizes mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSN) for delivery of antimicrobial and anticancer peptides. MSN are highly versatile, biocompatible and biodegradable carriers that can be functionalized for various purposes. It demonstrated successful peptide-based targeting as well as efficient intracellular killing of bacteria through MSN-therapeutic peptide conjugates in vitro and in vivo. A main goal of the 2nd funding period, will be to optimize MSN-peptide conjugates for oral peptide delivery. In addition, a generic toolbox based on peptide and MSN characteristics predicting the conditions for maximum peptide loading, blood residence time and targetability upon intravenous administration will be established.
