Project Details
The impact of chronic inflammation on fear extinction (A12)
Subject Area
Personality Psychology, Clinical and Medical Psychology, Methodology
Term
since 2017
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 316803389
This translational project at the neuro-immune interface and the gut-brain axis aims to obtain deeper mechanistic insights into the behavioral and neural effects of chronic inflammation on fear learning and extinction. In a set of closely interlinked studies in patients and in a preclinical mouse model of inflammatory bowel disease, we will investigate the neurobiological underpinnings and clinically relevant factors driving inflammation-induced maladaptive learning and memory processes.
