Project Details
The contribution of the cerebellum to extinction: intrinsic mechanisms and cerebello-cerebral interactions (A05)
Subject Area
Human Cognitive and Systems Neuroscience
Term
since 2017
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 316803389
Project A05 includes four 7T fMRI studies. In Studies 1, 2 and 3 fear conditioning experiments will be performed using a 3-day design. Study 1 will be performed in young and healthy participants, and Study 2 in patients with cerebellar degeneration and matched controls. Studies will be done in the first two years of funding. In Study 3 a dopamergic drug will be applied prior the extinction phase on Day 2. A pilot study will be performed to test which dopaminergic drug shows most robust changes of behavioral parameters. Study 3 will be done in year 2 and 3. In Study 4 aversive and appetitive conditioning will be compared in healthy subjects using a 2-day design. Study 4 will be performed in the third and fourth year of funding.
