Fermi liquid theory is one of the most important theories in condensed matter physics. While it successfully models many aspecs of the physics of metals, there is continuing experimental and theoretical interest in materials whose behaviour is not captured by Fermi liquid phenomenology. In this project I plan to investigate theoretically aspects of two kinds of metallic magnets in which non-Fermi liquid behaviour can be observed: metallic magnets without inversion symmetry, in particular MnSi, and antiferromagnetic metals. In MnSi, my aim is to explore the route of electron fractionalization as a possible mechanism for the anomalous T3/2 temperature dependence of the resistivity observed in experiment. In the second part of my project, my goal is to investigate the interplay of order parameter fluctuations and electronic degrees of freedom in the phase diagram of antiferromagnetic metals by means of functional renormalization group calculations.
