High-speed beamforming concepts are developed and optimized up to extremely wide bandwidths of up to 5 THz. The beamforming and measurement speed as well as the compactness of THz radar and spectroscopy systems shall be improved to enable mobile applications. This goal shall be achieved by (optical and electronic) integration of single and multi-source beamforming concepts, so that small and cost-effective THz transceivers become reality. This includes an integrated MEMS-based reflectarray as well as a jointly integrated photonic and electronic beamforming circuit. Furthermore, new measurement systems are developed applying the new integrated components. Besides theoretical investigations, also demonstration systems are realised which shall prove the basic principle of the elaborated concepts.
