Term
since 2017
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 287022738
C04 focuses on expanding THz applications in multi-color imaging and broadband CW spectroscopy, leveraging the potential of low-cost, highly integrated silicon-based systems. Utilizing SiGe HBTs and sub-harmonic methods, it aims to overcome the current frequency limitations of approximately 300 GHz to reach up to 1.5 THz. The project's evolution through MARIE's phases includes transitioning from static lab settings to implementing wideband components and exploring monostatic architectures and MIMO systems for mobile use. The research aims to achieve breakthroughs in remote material spectroscopy between 0.15 to 1.5 THz using compact, integrated circuits, with the third phase focusing on system integration, advanced antenna operations, and on-chip LO signal generation for enhanced portability and functionality.
