Project Details
Effects of repetitive magnetic stimulation on synaptic plasticity deficits in hepatic encephalopathy - cellular and molecular mechanisms (B11#)
Subject Area
Microbial Ecology and Applied Microbiology
Term
from 2017 to 2019
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 190586431
Hepatic Encephalopathy (HE) is associated with alterations in the ability of neurons to express synaptic plasticity. This project evaluates the effects of repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS) on HE-associated alterations of glial and neuronal mediators of homeostatic and associative synaptic plasticity in mouse organotypic slice cultures. The results will provide new important insights on the cellular and molecular mechanisms of HE-associated alterations in synaptic plasticity and may pave the way toward a diagnostic and therapeutic use of rTMS in HE-patients.
