Project Details
Twist maps and minimal geodesics (B02)
Subject Area
Mathematics
Term
from 2017 to 2024
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 281071066
This project is concerned with low-dimensional Hamiltonian systems. The goal is to extend certain important results, among others by Aubry-Mather and by Neishtadt, for periodic twist maps to the case of non-periodic twist maps as well as to geodesic and Finsler flows on the 2-torus T2. The interrelations between the study of twist maps and minimal geodesics are reflected by our two subprojects `Regions of instability for geodesic Finsler flows on T2' and `Growth rates of unbounded orbits in non-periodic twist maps'.
