since 2017
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 281511265
This project investigates prominence relations between referential expressions and examines the use conditions and processing correlates of personal and demonstrative pronouns. We extend previous research that has targeted the prominence-lending cues of antecedent expressions by assessing the impact of the cues of clause-mate referents of personal and demonstrative pronouns in text and dialogue. We also broaden our scope to examine the contribution of multimodal cues (deictic gesture, gaze direction) to a referent’s prominence status in dyadic interaction and their integration with prosodic and discourse cues.
