Project Details
Spectroscopic Investigation of N-Heteropolycyclic Molecules by Matrix Isolation (B03)
Subject Area
Organic Molecular Chemistry - Synthesis and Characterisation
Term
since 2017
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 281029004
The matrix-isolation technique is used to record high-resolution spectra (electronic absorption and emission as well as infrared) of non-covalently bound aggregates of N-heteropolycyclic aromatics. Work in the next funding period focusses on the evaluation of the structure and bondng of trimers (and the differences to the corresponding dimers) by combining spectroscopic data with quantum-chemical calculations. Moreover, photoionization of selected matrix-isolated aggregates is used to generate and characterize radical monocationic (and also monoanionic) aggregates.
