The project focuses on different forms of leadership in organizations. Its previous work differentiates between transactional and transformational leadership and finds that transformational leaders, who lead others without enforcing rules or providing monetary incentives, are more effective than transactional leaders. In the third funding period, the team will study the interaction of leadership style with organizational conditions, including (i) leader legitimacy and corporate misconduct, (ii) managerial behaviors, worker empowerment, and other content of internal communications, and (iii) knowledge flows within organizations.
