Project Details
Adaptive (multi-functional) building physics material systems for integration into the building envelope (C05)
Subject Area
Construction Material Sciences, Chemistry, Building Physics
Term
since 2017
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 279064222
Project C05 is dedicated to modelling, development, and prototype testing of adaptive facade elements with regards to building physics. In the first funding period, their hygrothermal functionality and adaptivity were the main focus of the solution approaches, such as a multilayer, pneumatically actuated membrane element and flow-through elements made of folding core structures. Based on the promising experimental and computational results, the research question will be extended to other building physics parameters, such as acoustics, in the second funding period. In order to meet all requirements without conflicts and to be able to model optimized integral facade elements, an efficient cosimulation method and an overall building physics evaluation system for adaptive facade elements will be developed and tested with functional models and demonstrators.
