Character sheaves and generic character tables (A01)

The main goal of this project is the determination of character values of finite groups of Lie type, using the geometric methods which were mainly developed by Lusztig. In particular, we want to use new methods found in the previous project to compute all generalized Green functions, thus completing an ongoing effort for 40 years. Furthermore, we want to find explicit tables of values of unipotent characters for the large rank exceptional groups of Lie type. Our results will be made accessible in electronic form for various applications (for example to find decomposition numbers).
