Identification and characterization of photosynthetic and translational modulators involved in chloroplast acclimation to low temperature (A04)

Subject Area Plant Biochemistry and Biophysics
Term from 2016 to 2024
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 270050988

Project Description

We previously identified several plastid-encoded non-essential genes as candidate modulators of cold acclimation. Now, we elucidate the regulation of these genes and their physiological role in cold acclimation of photosynthesis and translation. Furthermore, we will analyse the cold response of translation by whole-cell ribosome profiling to obtain a quantitative, codon-resolved picture of this process and to identify additional translationally regulated modulators and integrators of cold acclimation. Moreover, we will unravel the compositional dynamics of the plastid translation machinery during cold acclimation to reveal regulatory functions of ribosomal proteins and ribosome-associated factors.
