From QCD transport to particle yields (A02)

Subject Area Nuclear and Elementary Particle Physics, Quantum Mechanics, Relativity, Fields
Term since 2016
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 273811115

Project Description

The central goal of this project is the important extension of the hydrodynamic description of the quark gluon plasma (QGP). Ab-initio computations of QCD transport coefficients will be performed and used in hydrodynamic frameworks (such as FluiduM and MUSIC). The hydro description will be extended to include the transport of the baryon number and that of the heavy quarks, charm and beauty. High-precision measurements from present and future experiments will be used to critically assess the completeness of the theory description of the QGP and its dynamics. Feature extraction from data and simulations will be performed with advanced computational methods, such as deep neural networks.
