Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 261193037
Project B06 examines the role of regulatory Siglec proteins and sialic acids in inflammation. Siglec-G is a key regulatory factor of B cell activation. Siglec-G overexpression rescues mice from development of lupus-like disease. Siglec-9/-E suppresses neutrophil activation and is negatively associated with disease severity in rheumatoid arthritis patients. Based on these data, the project investigates the influence of these two sialic acid binding proteins and their ligands in resolution of inflammation in autoimmune diseases such as lupus and arthritis.
