Immunoregulatory Function of Human TCRαβ+ CD4-/CD8- Double Negative T cells and its Potential Role in Limiting Auto- and Alloreactive Immune Responses (B04)

Regulatory T cells are mainly involved in modulating immune responses to promote resolution of inflammation. Recently, a novel subset of TCR¿¿+ CD4- CD8- double-negative (DN) T cells has been described, which suppresses immune responses in both mice and humans. We aim to identify the exact mechanisms of human DN T-cell mediated suppression of inflammation. Furthermore, we will analyze whether human DN T cells offer regulatory function in vivo. Understanding of the mechanisms involved in human DN T-cell suppression may have important implications for promoting the resolution of acute and/or chronic inflammation.
