Normative Writings as Documents of Religious Formation in the New Testament (B02)

Subject Area Protestant Theology
Term from 2015 to 2020
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 244798977

Project Description

This project examines those five early Gospels that have been preserved in full. It aims to describe the strategies through which each of these writings authorizes both the story and the narrative, especially with respect to their educational aspects. To this end, the project determines where and how a Gospel ascribes authority to the author, the text, the tradition, Jesus Christ, and/or his witnesses as factors in a formative process. In this way it can be ascertained to what extent the canonical process that eventually resulted in the canon of the four New Testament Gospels reaches back to the individual Gospels themselves.
