Project Details
GRK 723: Spatio-Temporal Signal Processes in Neurons and Cellular Biophysics
Subject Area
Basic Research in Biology and Medicine
Term
from 2001 to 2004
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 273337
The program of the research training group 723 concentrates on signal processes of single molecules occurring at neuronal membranes or reduced membrane preparations. A common goal of all projects is the analysis of interactions of single molecules, mostly proteins.Another feature shared by all of the projects of this program is the application of modern, mostly optical methods upon single molecule analysis. Methods used are EM, X-ray microscopy, atomic force microscopy, two photon microscopy, often in conjunction with patch clamp methods, fluorescence correlation spectroscopy, dielectric spectroscopy and total internal reflexion microscopy.
