The research training group examines the relationships between the processeswhich constitute sexual and cultural identities and thus at the same time, produce difference and alterity. On the one hand, the catalogue of questions continues in the tradition of the culturalistic change in gender research at the beginning of the 90's, which no longer conceives sexual identities as a natural given, but rather as a social construction. On the other hand it introduces it into this field of research within the context of "gender", a category which is only marginal in the research of interculturality. The point is to investigate structural analogies and overlaps, metaphoric shifts andmutual references in the discourse on the construction ofgender/ethnicity/nation.
