The motivation that led to the formation of this SPP four years ago is still the same. In fact, dependabilityhas become an even bigger concern. New facets have evolved though. For exampleDark Silicon is a reliability concern due to the end of Dennard Scaling, which basically mandatesthat not all resources of an on-chip system can be powered at full speed at the same time sincethis would exceed the maximum power density the chip can sustain in a dependable way. The DarkSilicon problem means that on-chip system are operated closer to their physical limit, potentially resultingin dependability concerns. Hence, thermal issues play a key role with respect to dependability.Other dependability concerns continue to remain an issue, but will not not be repeated here again(the reader might refer to the proposals of the first and the second phase or to the web page
