Platelet migration in atherosclerosis progression and plaque instability
(B06)
Subject Area

Term
since 2014
Project identifier

Migration has emerged as a novel effector function of platelets in acute inflammation. The contribution of this novel effector function of immune-responsive platelets to chronic (vascular) inflammation is not understood. Our project aims to reveal molecular mechanisms of migrating platelets recruited to atherosclerotic plaques and to unveil potential platelet-centered therapeutic strategies that have the potential to limit atherosclerosis progression.
