Project Details
Interactions of chemokines with heterologous effectors in atherosclerosis (A02)
Subject Area
Cardiology, Angiology
Term
since 2014
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 238187445
Chemokines form heteromeric complexes with other chemokines and with galectins. This alters the recruitment of different immune cells and atherosclerosis. We will develop a new TR-FRET-based method to measure and better understand heteromerization and use it to identify inhibitors against atherosclerosis. Besides, we will analyze the importance of the existence of secretory vesicles in platelets and leukocytes for chemokine heteromers in atherosclerosis using conditional Nbeal2-/- mice. Last, we will investigate the role of Gal-3 for atherosclerosis in the context of heteromerization with chemokines in conditional knockout mice.
