Quantum Key Hubs (P04)

Subject Area Optics, Quantum Optics and Physics of Atoms, Molecules and Plasmas
Term since 2014
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 236615297

Quantum key distribution (QKD) networks ideally deliver information-theoretic security based on the laws of quantum mechanics. The overall goal of the project is to take the four-party-network established in Phase II and extend it by spatially separating the parties to prototype a functional city-wide QKD network. The project further develops a second-generation quantum hub based on a photonic chip and spontaneous four-wave mixing, potentially enabling cost-efficient and robust photon sources in the future. Another aim is the establishment of adequate physical models for the most relevant side-channels attacks.
