In a first step, novel phosphinoaminooxazolines, phosphinothiazolines and phosphinoaminothiazolines will be synthesized and characterized. These compounds offer P, N and S donor moieties and can therefore be regarded as promising ligands towards transition metal ions. Starting from these ligands, Pd(II), Pt(II), Ru(II) and Fe(II) complexes will be synthesized and transformed into nucleophilic metalloligands by deprotonation in a second step. The reactivity of these metalloligands towards electrophilic metal complexes will be studied in a third step. Finally, these metalloligands will be reacted with Ag(I), Au(I) and Tl(I) salts to form supramolecular coordination complexes. The choice of metal ions will allow for various types of metalloligand-metal interactions, such as metal-metal interactions (e.g. Pd-Ag, Pt-Tl, Au-Tl, Au-Au) and ¿ system-metal interactions (e.g. ¿6-aryl-Tl). These weak interactions could give rise to polymeric supramolecular materials that feature interesting properties such as luminescent behaviour or unprecedented solid state architectures.
