This application is aimed to support and continue a long-standing and acknowledged cooperation with the Solid State Theory group of the department of Physics at the University of Rome 'La Sapienza'.Within the past decade this cooperation resulted in numerous fruitful results and publications in the field of high-temperature superconductivity. The scientific aim of the present project is in understanding of excitations in disordered superconductors with regard to the following topics: (a) Evaluation of dynamical amplitude, phase and current fluctuations of strongly disordered superconductors close to the superconductor-insulator transition for understanding the unusual properties of spatial correlations in this regime. (b) Evaluation of transport properties and spin excitations in the spin glass phase of cuprate superconductors with regard to the proposal that these materials display a ferronematic state at low doping. These investigations are aimed to contribute to our understanding of the electronic properties of these materials.
