The aim of this project will be to make a contribution for the evolution and distribution pattern of distinct amphibian groups on Laurasia. The method to realise this aim is the taxonomic revision of selected amphibian species from the Permian and Triassic of the East European platform and of Central Asia, as well as the comparison with their relatives from Europe and Northern America. Some years ago a new skeleton of the earliest caudate Triassurus sixtelae (IVACHNENKO 1978) from the Middle Triassic Madygen-Formation in SW Kyrgyzstan (Central Asia) was found during field works of a DFG-project. Together with the revision of the holotype it will supply basic news about the origin of caudates and therefore of the lissamphibians in general too. The detailed knowledge of the nearby related branchiosaurid amphibians from Carboniferous, Permian and Triassic is very helpfully for the projected study. The eryopid temnospondyls were very common distributed on Laurasia. The revision of two species of the genus Clamorosaurus from the Upper Permian of the East European platform will permit the comparison with the genera Onchiodon, Osteophorus and "Actinodon" from the European Lower Permian as well as Eryops and Glaukerpeton from the Lower Permian of Northern America, and finally a phylogenetic study of the family Eryopidae. The analyse of the temnospondyl amphibians Intasuchus and Syndyodosuchus from the Upper Permian of the East European platform will prove the relationship to the stereospondylomorphs and eryopids.
